The Academic
IELTS assesses whether a candidate is ready to study or train in the medium of English at an undergraduate or postgraduate level. Admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses is based on the results of this format. Choose Academic module, if you plan to undertake further or higher education abroad. Choose Academic if you plan to undertake further or higher education study abroad.
The General
Training IELTS is not designed to test the full range of formal language skills required for academic purposes, but emphasizes basic survival skills in a broad social and educational context. General Training is suitable for candidates who are going to English speaking countries to complete their secondary education, to undertake work experience or training programmes not at degree level, or for immigration purposes. Choose General Training if you plan to complete secondary study, receive non-academic training, or work in / migrate to an English speaking country.
The two modules are designed for different purposes and therefore the language skills required in the two modules are different.
There are no restrictions on candidates re-taking the test.
There are no limited to attend IELTS test
Registrations are accepted up to one week before the session date, or until the session is full.
The IELTS test makes every effort to cater for special needs of any disabled candidates, to enable them to best understand questions and tasks and complete the test. It is our aim for the language level of all candidates, irrespective of disability, to be assessed fairly and objectively.
If candidates have any special needs such as visual difficulties or hearing difficulties, special IELTS test arrangements can be made including modified test materials and special administrative arrangements. Please contact Examinations Services ofthe British Council at least 3 months before the test date. Relevant supporting materials (medical certificate and/or disability certificate) should be provided Examinations Services of the British Council as well.Valid passport only, but the candidates from China can only register with a valid and current Mainland Travel Permit for China Residents.
You must bring your valid identity doucment which was used at the point of registration with you on the test day. If you do not do this you will not be allowed to take the test and you will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
Inform British Council Taiwan of any changes to your identity document 14 days before the written test date. If you do not do this in time, you will not be allowed to take the test and you will not be eligible for a refund or transfer.
